Entry requirement

Registered Dentists endorsed with the Dental Board of Australia/ AHPRA to administer sedation plus their support staff, including dentists, dental assistants and registered nurses working with patients undergoing conscious sedation techniques.

Content

  • Basic and advanced life support update according to the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines
  • Dental sedation guideline update with reference to the Dental Board of Australia/ AHPRA and RACDS/ ANZCA
  • Upper airway management skill review
  • High fidelity medical emergency simulations followed by debriefing and feedback
  • Small and large group hands-on practice and case studies
  • Development and understanding in complex problem solving during medical emergencies
  • Anesthetic Crisis Resource Management (ACRM) and teamwork
  • Development of competence in the management of the collapsed patient and resuscitation
  • Barrier exam for dental sedationists
  • Enhancement of clinical, behavioural and cognitive skills
  • Opportunities for networking and experience sharing among dental professionals

Please register between 08:15- 08:30 at Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences

Macquarie University Simulation Lab

Ground Floor,  2 Technology Place

Opposite the Macquarie University Hospital

Morning tea and lunch  will be provided.

Dress: Please wear comfortable clothing
